Moneysupermarket has a credit card comparison section that allows you to search for cashback only cards.
- Offering 1% or more cashback:
- Egg.com's Money card gives you 1% back on your purchases.
- Morganstanley's
Platinum Mastercard offers 1% cashback, but only for the first
£2000 spent per year, then 0.5% but 2% for the first three months.
- American Expresses' Blue
Card offers 1% cashback, 2% for the first three months. However, Amex is accepted
less often than Visa or Mastercard, so it is less easy to use.
- Bankof Ireland's
Gold and Standard Moneyback Mastercards offers 0.5% cashback for the first
£3000 per year, then 1% cashback.
- Retailer rewards:
-
The GM card offers 3% of
spending as a discount on Vauxhall or Saab cars (conditions apply).
For those who pay off the entire amount due on your credit card every
month, an April 2003 Which? report highlighted those offering the most
valuable rewards. Their advice for prompt payers is to ignore freebies such as
free travel insurance and select those offering the most money back. A
steady 1% cashback is available from some merchants, more is available as
rewards from specific retailers.
Is it is easy to set
up a direct debit to automatically pay off the credit card each month?
Otherwise you'll be wasting time sending off cheques, logging on to
websites or phoning up
to pay off debts.
