About paler.com

This site uses OpenACS software for its forums and the comment links. OpenACS is open-source software that uses Postgres or Oracle as a database, AOLServer as a webserver and is written in Tcl. Openacs.org features a list of sites that use OpenACS (including greenpeace.org).

• Why create paler.com?

  I am challenged by creating a website people can come back to and wish to spend time reading and contains content that is useful. It allow me to use completely different skills to those I use at work. I have to "sell" the domain to users and provide interesting information, whereas at work I merely work to extract data from the database and display it on screen.

   

• Why paler.com?

  Paler.com was chosen because it was available, short, a .com domain and a real word.

  According to analog, in the average week (as of 5 March 2002) paler.com serves more than 1500 distinct hosts and 3000 pages. The most popular pages (broadband and unmetered ISPs and price comparison sites) are accessed almost 1000 times in a week.
