Hopefully someone can help.......

I connect with TalkTalk using a Thomson Speedtouch330 modem.  Unfortunately when I use a P2P app or BitTorrent the modem disconnects after about 5mins.  I then have to either re-boot the PC or re-connect the USB cable and then re-connect to the internet.  This is very annoying and I can't see why this is happening

Any ideas?

Cheers

I am also with talktalk and keep getting disconnected when using torrentspy.
If you reed talktalks small print, there is something about them disconnecting you if they think your using p2p sites too much and I can only assume this is whats happening.
saying that though, I don't have to reset anything to reconnect to the net, it just drops my connection..
Please let me know if you find a solution, but I suspect changing your isp will be the answer.

I would strongly advise anyone to keep well back from talktalk.  I have been with them for a year and it was the worst time of my life on broadband.  Over the past few month they have really got bad for service and support, and now they have teamed up with onetel it's an absolute nightmare.  They charge 50p a minute for customer support and put you on to an answer machine.

I asked for a Mac code so I can migrate to Beaming and was told an email would be sent with the appropriate form.  I completed the form a week ago, so when I phoned to find out about the mac I was informed that my broadband account had been cancelled in November 2004.  I have only been on broadband since April last year.

When I complained that all other ISP's give a mac code over the phone upon request I was cut off.  Now my connection is running slower than dial-up.  Get yourself away from talktalk.

OneTel were a trouble from the beginning. We waited ages for the SetUp Pack to arrive. Then we found we were charged a months fee when we STILL hadnt recieved the pack.

After several annoyingly costly phonecalls later,we got a months free.

I thought i was the only one having this OneHell problem of disconnection. Like it was stated, its really annoying when you are trying to download p2p files overnight.

We will be leaving them soon.

Any suggestions on the best ISP?

We've just hada problem with ukonline - try asking them to 'widen your margins' and this might stop the modem dropping out. Cycling the power can also help. cheers D UK Broadband World

If anyone feels brave enough to suffer 18 months long torture GET TALK TALK !!!
I have made that mistake, got broadband, after about 4 months i was moving to the new place. Guess what, instead of transfering my services, they had been canceled. BUT,, cause i didnot learn from own mistakes, I ve tried to get my broadband back, they appologized, promised me compenzation for reconnecting feed etc...... HA HA HA. TALK TALK 's bullshit.
NOW I VE GOT NEW 18 MONTHS CONTRACT, I AM SPENDING MOST OF MY TIME ON MY MOBILE COMPLAINING AND TRYING TO GET HOLD OF ANYONE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE, SWEARING TO PHONE LINE OR BROADBAND NOT WORKING AGAIN ETC.

I HAVE LEARNT MY LESSON. TALK TALK, GO BANKRUPT.

SHUT DOWN YOUR STORES AND WORLD WILL BE REDEEMED FOREVER... or until you decide to open bussiness under different name.....
